At Talk Childcare to Me, we are proud to offer three apprenticeship programs for those looking to get involved in the Early Childhood industry. As part of our dedication to providing Kentucky with comprehensive and high quality childcare, our apprenticeship programs provide you with the training and support you need to qualify as an Early Childhood Educator, Child Development Specialist, or Director/Administrator.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be supported by a team of passionate and experienced educators who will provide you with an authentic insight into working in a child care center.
Graduated pay increases in the form of $.50 cents per hour after every 1,000 hours.
Milestone Achievement Awards
High quality training, including resources and materials
Apprentices who complete this program will earn a Ky Director’s Credential. This is a 4,000-hour (2 years) program with up to 2,000 hours of credit for prior learning.
Apprentices who complete this program will earn an Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Associates Degree (AA). They will complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job learning (OJL) and 144 hours of related training instruction (RTI).
Individuals are eligible for no more than 1,000 hours credit for prior experience for the OJL portion of the program.
Apprentices who complete this program will earn the Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). They will complete 4,000 hours of on-the-job learning (OJL) and 288 hours of related training instruction (RTI).
Individuals are eligible for up to 288 hours of credit for prior learning for the RTI portion of the program and no more than 2,000 hours credit for prior experience for the OJL portion of the program.
Have a desire to work in an Early Childhood setting
Agree to work at a Mentor Site for 1 year after program completion
Be eligible to work in a Ky licensed child care center

Duties and Responsibilities Include
➡ Help children meet educational milestones through personalized instruction and other supplementary assistance.
➡ Collaborate with other teachers, instructors, and staff members to create an optimal learning and care environment.
➡ Provide helpful feedback to parents and guardians on a regular or as-needed basis.
➡ Work with diverse populations of children and adults from a wide variety of cultural, linguistic, and
religious backgrounds.
➡ Address basic interpersonal skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and asking permission in the classroom.
